About Our Programs
The Yreka Community Resource Center is located on 201 South Broadway in Yreka, CA. Our current 2010 hours are 8am-5pm Tuesday through Friday.
We are proud to offer a variety of programs available for the public, but please call in advance because some programs require you to have I.D. and other necessary paperwork.
Some of our programs include:
- Career Fashions for Men and Women: Professional clothing for men and women.
- Computer Lab: We have 5 computers available for public use during our office hours. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Parent Education: We have 7-12 week parenting classes running throughout the year. Please call to register for classes.
- Healthy Families and Medi-Cal for children: Online application assistance, by appointment only.
- Young children’s play area: Includes numerous toys and books, our play area can be used anytime during our office hours by children of all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent.
- Bingo: Tuesday afternoons at 1:30 pm, play 7 games for $7.00
- Senior Information and Assistance: We provide help for seniors needing access to community resources.
- Car Seat and Helmet Program: Training provided every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 1:30 pm.
- Mental Health Services Act: Personal Services Coordinator on site to help when things get tough!
- New Parent Kits: We provide kits full of great information that includes: Parenting books, helpful brochures, a DVD, and a children’s book. Courtesy of First 5 of California.
- Supervised Visitations: We are a site for court mandated, low-cost visits for non-custodial parents
- Karate Classes: Monday and Wednesday afternoons at 3:00 pm
- Broadway New to You Thrift Store: Located nextdoor to the YCRC, a volunteer-run program for retail sales training and processing.
- Clothing Referrals: Voucher program with the Broadway New to You Thrift Store to help people in need of clothing.
- Families Matter Camp: We’re heading to Lake Siskiyou this year July 15-17th for a weekend of Family Fun!
- Lending Library: Library of parenting books, checked out on a monthly basis.
- Family Night Out: 3rd Thursday of every third month for families with children ages 0-5. We provide dinner and drinks, community activities, story time, arts and crafts activities, and free books for the kids.
- Resource and Referrals: Connecting families and individuals with services they need that we do not provide.
- Family Advocacy: Free and confidential one-on-one consultation time to talk about problems and goals
